Electronic Ignition
Those with classic cars know the perils of the distributor type ignition at some time in their motoring life, whether its loss of power, maintaining the points, water issues or even modifying the advance curve when you have modified the engine each time. With our last MGB we had a Stand Alone Ignition System called Megajolt, this allowed the previous owner to install a modern ford engine and run it on bike carbs, this allowed him to remove all the standard and bulky wiring loom that you would normally need for this conversion. From this I looked into these sort of systems more deeply to see what is possible from these products and found that my fellow mini owners where removing their distributors to then use the Megajolt system which had many benefits over the distributor including reliability, improved MPG and gain in power across the rev range. The Megajolt can be purchased from http://www.autosportlabs.org/ in the states, http://trigger-wheels.com/store/ if your in Europe but can also pop up on Ebay every now and then.
Our MGB with 1.8 Ford Zetec on Kawasaki-750 bike carbs with Megajolt Ignition:

For my new Classic mini engine rebuild i have opted to use a brand new system on the market called Nodiz, this system is basically an improved version of the Megajolt but has a few nice features which can be found on their website http://nodiz.co.uk/nodizpro-features.html . A full build diary will be posted on here when the product arrives.
Any information you want to know about these products feel free to ask me via my contact details to the right of the page.
